The 2017 Chardonnay is vibrant and rich with enticing aromas that lead to a firm core of pear, apple and apricot flavors shaded by lightly-spiced oak. On the palate, the wine offers layer upon layer of lingering flavors. The wine highlights varietal purity with elegance and freshness on the palate.

The 2017 Chardonnay Mountain Select is a soft, delicate wine. Orchard fruit, lemon confit, dried pear, chamomile and almond grace this open-knit, understated Chardonnay. Readers should expect a quiet, subtle style. For a mountain wine, I would have preferred to see a bit more depth and overall structure. Then again, 2017 was hardly an easy vintage. The 2017 Antica Mountain Select Atlas Peak Chardonnay stays firm and long on the palate. This wine offers excellent aromas and flavors of dried earth, leaves, and tangy apple. Serve it with steamed mussels in an aromatic broth. (Tasted: February 15, 2021, San Francisco, CA) [wine dot com]
