2010 CAPARZO Brunello Di Montalcino 'La Casa'

Size: 750

3 Bottles in Stock

The name of the estate apparently derives from "Ca' Pazzo", as shown on some ancient maps. The estate covers an area of 190 hectares, 54 of which are vineyards, 4 are of olive groves, 87 of which are wooded and 45 of which are to be planted with new vines. Caparzo is the only estate-bottled producer of Brunello di Montalcino to have estate vineyards on all five sides of the hill of Montalcino, ensuring that no matter what climatic challenges effect one side, the other vineyards will more than compensate.

The Caparzo Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Vigna la Casa can be considered a true enological jewel not only of Montalcino. The origin of the name HOUSE comes from the fact that in the past this was one of the farms where they lived some farmers employed by the owners of the Palace Montosoli, located a few hundred meters. The first year of production of Brunello di Montalcino Vigna La Casa was 1977. At the time, little was known of terroir and little attention was given to the concept of zoning, introduced in Montalcino only in recent years. Caparzo in this case has been a leading company in producing one of the first "Single Vineyard" Brunello di Montalcino vineyards in one of the most privileged of the City. With the Brunello di Montalcino La Casa, Caparzo also marked another milestone: to be one of the first companies to introduce the barrel in Montalcino, managing to create a gentle and elegant wine from the soul. Brunello di Montalcino Vigna La Casa is the result of a unique territory and expresses the passion and the long Caparzo experience in producing wines of excellence.

Intense aromas of iron, rust, earth and dark, dried fruits. It`s full-bodied, with incredible depth of fruit, berries and lemon peel. Drink or hold. A beautiful Brunello. So much going on here. Gorgeous."

"Caparzo's 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna la Casa opens to dark intensity with blackish-garnet undertones. The wine exhibits muscle and power with a large array of aromatic qualities that include dried cherry, spice, leather, tobacco, licorice and tar. It aspires to high complexity and intensity and it delivers on that promise. In the mouth, it shows beautifully tame tannins and a silky texture. Brunello Vigna la Casa lasts many long minutes on the palate. The wine should hold steadily over the next 15 years."
