Area Description:

A vast area centered around Alba spreading east and west from the Tanaro River and reaching into the Roero hills to the west and to the north. Includes vinyards Eastward toward the Belbo River, and south toward Monforte d'Alba.


 

Color:

Red

 

Description:

Intense ruby red turning to maroon with age.

 

Type:

Dry still

 

Taste:

Dry and full bodied, low tannins and high acidity, tannic and quite sapid.

 

Aroma:

Characteristic of violets and marasca (sour cherry).

 

Alcohol:

12% - 13%

 

Aging:

Six to eight years, laying One year minimum in either oak or chestnut barrel for the Superiore denomination.

 

Food:

Pasta, vegetable soups, boiled meats, and barbeque, sstews, venison, bagna cauda.

 

Temperature:

Serve at 64º - 67º Fahrenheit, 18º - 20º Celsius opening the bottle at least two hours before serving.
